Movie Review: Hamilton (Broadway)
Rating: 5/5
Summary:
A musical play about the biography of Hamilton, one of the founding father of USA. His success from being a a poor orphan immigrant into the founding father and building the economic policies of USA. The musical covers, both his personal life (his affair, family, rivalries) and his political career.
What I liked:
I watched Hamilton a while ago and really loved it. Thoroughly enjoyed the lyrics and music. I also loved how they tell the story in the form of these catchy lyrics. The story of hamilton itself is interesting and inspiring at the same time. Especially the 'Hamilton wrote the other 51!'. The fact that it's a rags to riches story also helps.
Now I finally get why people love hamilton.
So summary of what I liked are:
- Catchy lyrics that rhyme
- Inspiring stories and interesting history
- The music melody are actually good
What I disliked:
- Certain scenes/lyrics are quite repetitive
- I didn't like the kings song tbh
How it changed me:
- I was obsessed with listening to Hamilton songs for about 1-2 weeks.
- I understand why people are obsessed with broadways shows now
- I learned more about the US history and culture (e.g Duel, etc)
- I am more open to watching musicals now
