The Stranger by Albert Camus Review
The Stranger by Albert Camus Review Rating: 3/5 stars. I didn't think it was a good representation of the absurdist philosophy. People says to read his other book first, 'Myth of Sisyphus' which is manifesto of his philosophy. And I read that, but it just convinced me more that this book is not good representation of the absurdism. And people just interpret it that way because of the author. The fact that you have to read the other book to even understand what he meant, means the book itself is not good enough in representing it. I was expecting the story to be more about the passionate desire to live fully despite accepting the nihilistic meaninglessness of the universe. What I got instead felt like a childish character that acts completely like what he feels now with complete disregards of the future consequence or long term thinking. The main character also feels like someone in the spectrum, where it might not understand social cues or context. Overall the more I read this (and the myth of sisyphus) the more I dislike the absurdism philosophy in this context.
