The Will of Many Book Review

January 25, 2026 #notes

Summary:

• A dystopian world with a roman like empire dominated. THe empire is based on a pyramid like / MLM like hierarchical psychic power. Where each person can cede 'will' to their upper rank. the upper rank will be physically more powerful to the 'will' the people under them supplied. and the higher ranked one will always be more powerful as they have more people under them and supplying 'will'

• Underdog story of a fallen prince of an invaded country by an empire's tyranny, given up on revenge, but manipulated by the revolution army to be adopted by a senate, sent to be a double agent in a elite school meant for heirs.

What I liked:

• The pyramid hierarchical power system and how it's used to emphasize that inaction is also powering the oppressive system and may not be as innocent. • The tension pacing and how it kept me engaged throughout the book • the underdog / revolution trope

What I disliked:

• MC is goody two shoe • MC is too emotional / has temper issue. • How the unique 'Will' power system are not used much in the book (The academy practically ban the 'will' power) • Pacing of the revelation of the mystery. The mystery progress too slowly and the ending was not satisfying.

  • Ending is a bif of cliffhanger
